Vacation 2020 - Part 3

Vacation 2020 - Part 3

Most of what we did in Colorado was hiking. We went on a hike every day except one and one day we went on a super short hike to give Kat rest. It is amazing the difference the temperature makes. In Texas, if we walk more than a mile, Kat is slow walking and it seems like she’s not going to make it home. In Colorado, we usually went on a 3.5-4 mile hike and she was energetic all the way to the end.

Sometimes we found some water for the pups to cool off in. Kat always made the most of the water. Gus generally just took a drink but didn’t get his feet wet.

One day we were lucky enough to meet up with three other Siberians and their humans - Zorro, Jack, Rudy, Brad, and Nancy! We were excited to meet up with them after following their adventures on their blog.

At the beginning of the walk, we kept our distance so Kat could get used to being around pups she didn’t know. Gus was friendly from the get-go.

Eventually Nancy and I turned around with the seniors, Kat and Zorro, and headed back to the trailhead while David and Brad took the young pups for a longer hike. While we waited for them to return, Kat and Zorro, both known to be reactive dogs, became friends. I was proud of Kat. I guess maybe she is mellowing out in her old age. Maybe…

I have a few more hiking pictures, so I’ll share them in the next post.
