Disney World Part 1
David and I threw caution to the wind and went to Walt Disney World a couple weeks ago. I saw on Instagram that someone else was there and the crowds were super low, so we decided to take advantage of it and try to be safe.
We flew American Airlines because I had some credit from our trip to Hawaii that was cancelled because of COVID. I would not fly American again during this pandemic. They were essentially doing nothing to maintain distancing of passengers during the boarding process or enforce proper mask wearing. I understand that it is likely annoying for the gate agents and flight attendants, but I’ve flown other airlines during this time and the other airlines did a much better job.
Once we got to Orlando and got in the Disney bubble, everything improved. Disney did a great job enforcing their mask policies, performing temperature checks, and clearly labeling everything for social distancing. Most of the guests were also good at abiding by the rules, but you always have a few crazies.
On the day we traveled to Orlando, we missed lunch because we didn’t have as much time during our plane change as expected, so we took our luggage to our room at the Contemporary Resort (we got a free room upgrade!) and immediately headed to Disney Springs to get some food. After we ate lunch/dinner, we walked around to scope out the Disney merch and to get our Disney themed masks. (Even though we had masks, you have to have Disney ones at WDW, right?)
Before the trip, I followed the Disney Parks blog and was up on all the snacks, so we stopped by The Ganachery for a freshly made s’more. Here’s the lady making my s’more.
Of course, it was topped with a powdered sugar Mickey.
The s’more was really delicious but messy. I’m pretty sure I ended up with marshmallow on my face, but it was worth it!
After Disney Springs, we headed back to the hotel to crash since we had been up since 4:00 that morning and we had to rest up for the parks!
