Girls weekend

Mom and I just finished a girls weekend.  My relatives from Missouri -- Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Kari, Uncle Joe, and cousin Special K -- were on vacation and were going to be in Pennsylvania, so Mom and I decided to drive up and spend the weekend with them.

First we had to send Steve off with Dad and Wilbur for a boys weekend.  We met Dad halfway between Charlottesville and Lexington Park.  Steve got to ride in the car, so that was pretty special since normally we only ride in the 4Runner.  (Dad covered the seats with sheets.)

The next day, Mom and I set off for Pennsylvania.  We met up with everyone in Hershey.  I thought it was kind of strange for Mom to take me to a place made of chocolate, but it turned out okay.

Here is a picture from my first encounter with Special K since I saw her at Christmas.  At Christmas, she was so tiny, I didn't even notice her and she was sleeping so much that she didn't notice me either.  Not so now!  She really liked me and wasn't afraid at all.  She doesn't have any pets, so Mom wasn't sure how she would react.

I was also a really good girl and didn't even give Special K any kisses.  I just let her stare at me and touch me.  (I will admit that later that night after she had eaten some chicken strips in the hotel room, I did sneak a lick of her fingers and that made her giggle.)

While I stayed in the car with my Grandma and Grandpa, Mom and Special K picked out some souvineers for Steve and me in the gift shop.  They picked out a soccer ball for me and a squeeky bone for Steve.  Luckily Steve wasn't with us because Special K played with the bone all weekend.

We had some more adventures on Saturday, but I'll save those for my next post.
