Camping at Black Rock Park
When we bought the Airstream, I said that we needed to use it roughly once a month to make it worth while. At the beginning of the year, I realized we didn’t have any trips planned, so I booked us some weekend camping trips relatively near home. This weekend was the first trip. We went to LCRA’s Black Rock Park on Lake Buchanan.
The campground is pretty small, but the sites were pretty spread out and had good trees for hammocks and dog lines. There are also cabins and Airstreams for rent. In fact, Gus found his own Airstream there!
Unfortunately for Gus, we didn’t rent out Gus the Airstream for him, so he had to stay in ours and put up with Milo. He must not have minded too much because he helped Milo try to crowd me out of my bed.
There were not any trails at the campground, but luckily Inks Lake State Park was just a few miles away, so we went there for a nice hike. Mountain Goat Milo made an appearance on the rocky parts of the hike. He loves scrambling up and down rocks.
Gus prefers to take the trail nice and easy, allowing for ample time to try to find edible things along the way.
The lake levels are really low right now, so we hope we get a lot of rain this spring and maybe we will return to this campground to see the difference. It’s just a little over an hour from home, so it’s easy to head over on Friday evening and come back Sunday evening.
