Tails on the Trails 2012

Hey pups! It's Kat. I bet you didn't expect me to be the one posting about Tails on the Trails, did you? Well, Steve was very excited about going to the hike, but then he got sick on Friday with a tummy ache and still didn't feel very well yesterday morning, so Mom and Dad decided he should stay home. Look how pathetic he looked when he found out he had to miss the hike.

So Mom and I left Dad's apartment at 5 AM yesterday and headed to Pennsylvania for the hike.

When we got there, I was so excited!

We picked up our goody bags and took them back to the car and then walked around the park a bit. The huskies were singing as you can hear in this short video.

While I was waiting for the hike to start, I did a little of this.

And a little of this too.

Finally it was time to hike. Mom tried to get a picture of me with the hikers in the background. It's not the best picture.

After the picture, we got in line for the hike. It was pretty exciting.

Once the hike started, I was pretty disappointed to find out that my mom had it in her head that she wasn't going to win.  I mean, look how many people and huskies are in front of me!

At the halfway point, there were still all of these people and dogs in front, so I finally decided to stop pulling and let my mom lose the race. She said it wasn't a race, but to me, everything is a race!

The last stretch of the hike was on an abandoned runway. I never like to see airports close down, but it was nice to have lots of room for all of the hikers to spread out.

After the hike, I participated in a hot dog eating contest. Here is a picture of me waiting in line for my turn.

I don't have any pics of me competing because Mom was busy trying to help me. The contest consisted of a kiddie pool filled with a few inches of water. Spread around in the water was hot dogs. Each pup got 30 seconds to bob for as many hot dogs as possible and the one who ate the most was the winner.  Some pups didn't want to get into the pool. I jumped in right away, so I got off to a great start. Can anypup guess how many hot dogs I ate? Would you be surprised if I said none?  That's right, I got a big, fat ZERO. I picked up some hot dogs, but I spit them out.  I thought it would be more fun just to play in the water, which it was. I was actually disappointed when my 30 seconds of pool time was over!

I had a really fun time at the hike and Mom enjoyed meeting everyone. We want to send a special shout out to one of our fans, who said hi to us at the hike. I really felt like a celebrity to have gotten recognized!
